NATIONAL AND PATRIOTIC EDUCATION OF SCHOOLCHILDREN THROUGH SPORTS TOURISM AND ORIENTEERING

Abstract

The article examines the features of physical education of schoolchildren in the context of national and patriotic development through sports tourism and orienteering. It has been established that active forms of tourism, such as hikes, competitions, excursions, and expeditions, contribute to the formation of patriotic values, foster love for the native land, and develop physical and moral qualities of students. Sports tourism and orienteering provide a harmonious combination of physical activity and cognitive engagement, positively influencing health, endurance, and psychological resilience. Participation in tourist activities develops teamwork skills, responsibility, and mutual assistance, while improving safety through the ability to navigate terrain and act in critical situations. Special attention is given to the experience of Volyn region, where the «Center for National-Patriotic Education, Tourism and Local History of Student Youth of the Volyn Regional Council» plays a significant role in implementing national-patriotic education programs. It has been found that tourism and local history activities promote not only physical development but also spiritual enrichment of schoolchildren through acquaintance with historical and cultural landmarks of their homeland. Furthermore, sports tourism has a rehabilitation potential, supporting psychological recovery of children and youth under modern challenges. Thus, integrating physical education with national-patriotic education through sports tourism and orienteering is an effective means of forming a healthy, active, and conscious personality.
