Abstract

Abstract. In order to improve the results of physical therapy applied to the casualties, who suffered from mine-explosive trauma of the lower extremities, it was suggested that the traditional rehab treat ment should be combined with oriental massage accompanied with the sessions of oriental bath on the basis of the Arabian ones. The experiment was carried out at the premises of Medical «Dorra-Center» clinic, Baalbek city, Lebanon, with male casualties (n=48), who suffered from the mine-explosive injuries of lower limbs. Injured persons from the 1st group (n=24) underwent traditional complex of physiotherapeutic measures accepted in the “Dorra-Center” clinic, which included curative massage procedures, remedial gymnastics and laser and magneto therapy. Casualties from the 2nd group (n=24), instead of usual physiotherapeutic procedures, participated in the sessions of Arabian bath of mixed type, namely that of oriental bath on the basis of the Arabian one, taking it in accord with certain methodic succession. It was found, the suggested rehabilitation programme provides positive clinic results and higher quality of life for the injured people. It was supported with a substantially larger number of good results (by 54.2 %) and by far smaller number of those who were not satisfactory (by 25.1 %) as compared with the control group (29.4 % and 12.7 % correspondingly), which testifies to the efficacy and expediency of the programme administration. As for the quality of life parameters, 58.3 % of the cases from the control group were satisfied with their quality of life, 25 % of those affected were partially satisfied, whereas only 16.7 % of casualties were not satisfied. The majority of casualties from the main group were fully satisfied with their quality of life (91.6 %) and only some 8.4 % were partially satisfied.
